The brief
People opened Pulse once, saw a jagged graph and a number, and deleted it. The team wanted to know why a good sensor made an app nobody kept.
The move
We rewrote the product around questions instead of charts. Every spike gets a sentence (stairs, then coffee: normal), every week gets a summary, and the graph only appears when you ask for it.
What changed
30-day retention went from 19% to 41%. The app now holds 4.8 stars across 22,000 reviews, and support tickets about ‘scary numbers’ dropped to almost none.
